8) Genesis 3:9-10

‘But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”’

‘‘Where are you?’ The Lord knew where Adam and Eve had hidden, He is all knowing, but He calls to them as a Father would, who wants to find His lost children. After this, the scripture tells us that God then clothed them both. Already, He was willing to cover their shame.

Fear has now found its way into the hearts of mankind, already distancing them from God, and He is the only one who can defeat it.

God wanted to find Adam and Eve. He needed to know where they were, He wanted to talk to them, and help them. But Adam says he was afraid, and that he felt he needed to hide.

This was the first time God’s children had chosen to run away from Him. Something needed to be done.
