John 2:1-2
‘On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.’
We now travel forward 700 years to find Jesus, the Son of God made man, the Word become flesh, walking among His disciples and invited to a wedding.
This was before Jesus had shown any sign of His divine power, and to everyone else’s knowledge, apart from His mother, He was simply Jesus of Nazareth.
Mary had watched Him grow from the moment she knew she would be carrying Him, and now He was walking before her as a fully grown man, about to step into His purpose.
Now we are going to travel 700 years forward, to when Jesus has come to Earth. He is at a wedding, where his mother and friends have been invited.
Weddings were very big celebrations in these times, they lasted for days! Jesus loves to celebrate with people, and at this wedding, he was going to do something very extraordinary.
