Isaiah 61:1
‘to proclaim that captives will be released
and prisoners will be freed.’
The Greek version of these words reads ‘the blind will see’. There are many people who are held captive, or blinded by things God never intended for them.
Jesus brings freedom and new vision for those who are bound or blind.
Captives, or prisoners, don’t always look how you think they look. Sometimes they are people who are stuck in bad situations, or people who are being kept away from happy things. These words tell us that Jesus would be able to help those people and give them freedom.
